Executive Summary

IMS group were engaged completing critical certified remedial works to 46,000 fire doors within a 6month period over 4 Army Garrisons.

This was the single largest awarded fire door maintenance contract in the country, IMS designed a scope of works with Aspire Defence and successfully delivered the project on time.

The Client

IMS Group were recommended to our via a fire engineer consultancy following the client receiving a condemning report from a third party informing them that 11,000 of their 46,000 fire doors over 4 army barracks need to be replaced.

The Problem

The industry standard is to always replace fire doors at the slightest problem. All other contractors were pushing for replacement of doors. The client knew that replacing that quantity of doors was not a financial option.

They wanted doors repaired where possible, but needed the works certified, there are very few companies that have the ability to be able to provide certified works.

Further problems were the sheer quantity of doors and the time frame.

These works were turned down by other contractors as it was believed that this was an impossible task.

The Solution

IMS group are the market leaders in supplying, bespoke maintenance programmes. IMS worked with all parties to design an agreed programme.

All works needed to be certified and fully documented to ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. IMS Group designed a bespoke mobile app that fully documents all works with photographic records.

The Results

All 46,000 fire doors were visited and were surveyed with the works required being completed at the same time. The six month deadline was achieved, of the original 11,000 doors that the client was recommended to replace only 246 needed to be replaced, as they were beyond economical repair. The savings to the client ran into millions.
