Case Study
Fire Door Remedial Works for North East of England Hospital Wing
Executive Summary
We conducted a “find and Fix” bespoke service for an NHS Trust to put an end to their non-availability and the fines they faced.
The Client
Earlier this year IMS was conducted to assist a FM provider to an NHS trust that had been let down by a previous contractor and now the PFI and SPV was facing multi million pound fines due to non-availability
The Problem
The IMS Group inspected 1400 fire doors in four months to provide the best advice on how to move forward. Due to the urgency of works needing to be carried out IMS sent 20 of their qualified fire door engineers to work round the clock to get this resolved.
Some of the new fire door installations took place with the use of pressurised tents to observe infection and prevent unnecessary contamination.
IMS take great pride in our ability in adapting to difficult working environments.
The Solution
IMS delivered on our promise and the works were completed in time and to the trust’s budget. IMS will always try to repair a door over replacing, we were able to carry out remedial works and save 1,100 of the doors, bringing them back to certified standards and we had the remaining 300 fire doors manufactured and installed within the timeframe
The Results
The PFI, SPV & FM provider no longer had to pay the non availability fees at a cost of 4% of the orginal fine
