Finally an end to non-availability, IMS prevents hefty fines for PFI

Executive Summary

We conducted a ‘find and fix’ bespoke service for an NHS trust to put an end to their un-availabiltiy and the fines they faced.

The Client

Earlier this year IMS was contracted to assist an NHS trust in dire constraints. They had been let down by a previous contractor and now the PFI was facing fines up to £20 million due to non-availability on site.

The Job

The IMS Group inspected 1400 fire doors in four months to provide the best advice on how to move forward. Due to the immediacy of works needing to be carried out IMS sent 20 of their qualified fire door engineers to work round the clock to get this resolved.

Some of the new fire door installations took place with the use of positives tents to protect wards such as oncology from unnecessary germs and contamination. IMS are no strangers to working around our clients building practices.

The Outcome

IMS delivered on our promise and the works were completed in time and to the trust’s budget. Because IMS will always try to repair a door over replacing we were able to carry out remedial works and save 110 of the doors, bringing them back to certified standards.

The Result

The trust no longer had to pay their non-availability fines which saved them 95% an estimated £18,900,000.
