IMS helps client reclaim cost from construction company for improper installation

Executive Summary

The Client was concerned that there were defects in the fire safety of the building due to original construction and felt that the original contractors should be responsible for paying for the fixes.

The Client

A Hospital in Leeds contacted our north east office in Hull for an in depth survey of their fire doors. IMS Group was recommended to the hospital after works with other NHS Trusts and PFI’s

The Problem

IMS engineers inspected over 1600 doors in six months with our 34 point check system. Surveying the fire rate, condition and upkeep of the doors then making our final recommendations. Our findings were that 80% of the doors were in fact compromised through poor instillation, presumably by under qualified joiners.

The Solution

Fortunately IMS were able to rectify this and only 50 doors had to be totally replaced, the others went through detailed remedial works at the hands of our specialist engineers.

The Result

Based on our finding our client was able to recover costs from the cowboy contractors and the building was now protected by certified fire doors.
